Nationals of Poland require a visa for Niger. Niger does not have an embassy in Poland, so applications from Poland are processed by the Niger embassy in Geneva. Visas are issued for business and long‑stay trips, as single- or multiple-entry. Before starting the process, please check the security situation, as many governments currently advise against all travel to Niger.
Security: please read before travelling
Since the coup in July 2023 the situation in Niger has been deteriorating. In 2026 the United Kingdom and the United States advised against all travel to the country, including to Niamey, due to the risk of kidnappings and attacks. Niamey airport has been temporarily closed several times this year. Foreign nationals may only travel outside cities with an armed escort.
Before departure, please check the current travel advice issued by the foreign ministry on gov.pl and register your trip in the Odyseusz system. If you are travelling on business, arrange airport transfers and on‑the‑ground security with your partner in Niger.
Who needs a visa for Niger
Nationals of Poland and other EU countries must obtain a visa before travelling. A foreign national residing in Poland also submits the application via the embassy in Geneva. Visa requirements depend on nationality, but your place of residence determines which mission accepts your application.

Yellow fever vaccination
Vaccination is a condition of entry into Niger. It can be administered at an international vaccination centre, and the entry is made in the International Certificate of Vaccination, the so‑called yellow booklet. The vaccine takes effect after 10 days, and according to WHO recommendations one dose provides lifelong protection. Please schedule your vaccination before submitting your application, as the booklet forms part of the required documentation.
Step-by-step procedure
You gather the documents and get vaccinated.
We check your documents and send the application to the Niger embassy in Geneva.
The embassy processes the application, usually in about 3 weeks.
Your passport with the visa is returned to Poland by courier.
Your passport remains at the embassy for the duration of the process. If you are travelling elsewhere during this time, please plan your trips in advance or use a second passport.
How to fly to Niger
There are no direct flights from Poland to Niamey. Connecting flights operate via, among others, Istanbul, Casablanca or Algiers. Schedules change frequently, also due to the situation in the country, so please reconfirm your flight shortly before departure.
Most common mistakes
No vaccination or no entry in the booklet. Without the yellow booklet your application will not be accepted.
Single-entry visa when making several trips. If your contract requires multiple trips, apply for a multiple-entry visa from the outset.
Starting the process too late. Processing in Geneva takes several weeks, plus the time needed to send your passport.
